LF-092
The LF-092 Mid-Autumn Moon Palace Lantern turns the beloved legend of Chang'e and the jade rabbit into a full storybook scene. At the centre stands a multi-tiered moon palace with upturned eaves, glowing windows and a softly lit entrance, built in warm gold and ivory silk-effect fabric over a steel frame. Behind it, a giant full moon disc glows in pale cream, while in the foreground a jade rabbit lantern pounds a pestle beside an osmanthus tree whose blossoms are picked out in tiny golden lights. Floating cloud motifs connect the levels, completing the celestial tableau. The composition is designed to be viewed from a distance as a single dreamy image, yet it rewards close inspection with fine architectural and costume detail. Weatherproof to IP65 and rated for 50,000 hours, this mid autumn lantern display is the definitive seasonal centrepiece for parks, malls and cultural festivals, and it resonates powerfully with Chinese communities worldwide during the Mid-Autumn Festival.

The scene can be scaled from 6 to 15 metres in width, and the palace can have three, five or seven roof tiers. The moon disc can be a static glow or a slowly brightening full moon, and the rabbit's pose can be pounding, sitting or hopping. The osmanthus tree can be replaced with a moon-gazing pavilion or a lantern-tree prop, and the cloud motifs can be rearranged to fit the venue. LED programs include steady warm gold, a slow colour breath, or a sequence that brightens the moon as the evening progresses. Optional features include a mist base for a cloud-sea effect, a voice-over telling the legend of Chang'e, and a sponsor plaque on the front plinth. The scene ships in palace, moon, rabbit, tree and base modules for efficient transport and assembly.
This palace scene is made for mid autumn lantern festivals, Chinese cultural events, park lakesides, shopping-mall atriums, resort gardens and community celebrations. It is the natural centrepiece of Mid-Autumn programming, where families gather to admire the moon and the scene together, and it works beautifully beside water where the palace and moon reflect. Museums and cultural centres use it as an immersive exhibit during the season.
Our team ships and installs this piece worldwide, and every order includes engineering drawings, a certified installation plan and on-site technical supervision. As a custom lanterns specialist from Zigong — the home of Chinese lantern art — we have supplied giant lanterns for sale to theme parks, zoos, shopping malls, city squares and cultural festivals across more than 40 countries since 2002.
The scene spans 10 metres, so the site plan calls for a level area of at least 12 m × 5 m with anchor points set to our template; individual footings are used for each module to spread the load. Assembly takes three to four days with a crane: the palace is erected first, followed by the moon disc and its support frame, then the rabbit, tree and cloud elements are placed in order. All electrical connections are weatherproof plugs at each module, fed from a central IP65 distribution box with fused loops per element, an earth-leakage breaker and a dusk sensor. We run a 48-hour burn-in test of the moon and palace lighting before opening. Weekly checks cover the moon support frame, the palace roof fixings and the anchor bolts; fabric is cleaned with a soft brush. The rabbit and tree are inspected after high-wind days. LED modules are serviceable through access panels in the palace rear. At season's end the scene is de-rigged in reverse order, with the moon disc stored flat in a cradle and the palace modules crated for reuse in future mid autumn lantern seasons.
The Moon Palace scene speaks directly to the emotional heart of the Mid-Autumn Festival, making it the most powerful audience connection available for seasonal programming. It draws families for moon-viewing photo moments, extends dwell time around the display and generates deeply shareable images that promote the event. Educationally, it brings the legend of Chang'e, the jade rabbit and the symbolism of the reunion moon to life, supporting school tours and cultural heritage programmes. Commercially, the scene can be sponsored, re-themed with new foreground elements and reused every autumn, delivering strong return on investment across many seasons of mid autumn lantern celebrations.
